When you're getting started keep things simple.
Ask this question, do I want my shelter to be all in one or modular?
-
Nubé is our all in one shelter. Meaning it has the rain fly, insect shield, and gear stash all sewn into one package.Â
-
Stratos is our modular shelter. Meaning the rain fly and insect shield can be separated and used individually or seamlessly together.Â
-
Ninox Fly is our newest modular shelter, designed to work with our Ninox Flat Lay Hammock (with built in insect protection)
This will then determine your next question, which hammock is the right size?
We have several hammocks to choose from all of which are made to fit just a bit differently.Â
-
Ninox comes with an insect shield attached to it, it's incredibly spacious and will work great with the Ninox Fly or Stratos Fly.Â
-
Pares is a net-less hammock that will go perfectly with the Nubé or Stratos and it's for people that are taller, larger, or like more space.Â
-
Solo is our net-less full size yet light weight option for people focused on saving weight without loosing comfort. It works well with our Nubé or Stratos.Â
-
xPlor is our most compact net-less hammock and it's great for people under 5'10". Works perfectly with our Nubé or Stratos. You can even Hambunk it with your Pares to fit two people in one shelter.Â
The final question you'll want to ask is, how cold will I want to camp?
We have several insulation options in our warmth lineup. Here are the differences.Â
-
Inferno is our top line Air Camp insulation system, if you want the best of the best and occasionally you'll be camping in temperatures below 40°F this is what you want. You'll need the Top Quilt and the Under Quilt and have the option to select a 30° version or 0° version.Â
-
Puffle is our do it all adventure blanket. It's an under quilt, a top quilt, a blanket, you can stack it, and you can link it. These come in 40°F and 55°F so if you're mostly doing summer camping or warm weather camping, these will be perfect!
-
Hot Pocket is the accessory you'll want to add on to your insulation, not only will it help you carry your warmth gear - it will also warm you up when you're cold!
There are a few accessories related to each system of choice like choosing your suspension or adding a winter top shield. Below I'll explain which accessories work with what and why their important to consider.Â
-
Winter Barrier vs. Winter Top Shield. These items provide an extra 10-15°F of heat retention and can be really useful in reducing wind and keeping you warm in cold weather camping. The Winter Barrier is made to clip right into our Nubé or Stratos Shelters (don't worry, it's all color coded). The Winter Top Shield is made to zip right into the Ninox Hammock.Â
-
EZSlings vs Talon Suspension. When suspending your hammock keep two things in mind 1) avoid tying knots. 2) always use straps to protect the trees. Our EZSlings quickly and easily allow you to adjust and suspend your hammock from 8 different connection points. Our Talons use a proprietary buckle to allow you to adjust your hammock position to the millimeter, if that's your kind of thing. Both options give you a fast secure setup without any knots and both also use webbing to provide maximum protection for the tree.Â
