Those words always haunt me when I'm in the Wild or even just traveling through a remote area.

You see it happen all too often, people get caught in unexpected situations and are completely un-prepared.

Traveling through remote regions, flying over vast wilderness expanses, or hiking into the unknown.

Aside from extreme colds, we humans can make do pretty well anywhere - but there's one thing we can't live more than a couple of days without!

What To Do When You Run Out Of Drinking Water.

In this article we're going to go over the one "must have skill" for survival when you run out of water.

It's simple, it's effective, and it's a must have if you're ever caught unprepared and lost in the wild.

The THREE ESSENTIALS You Need With This Water Trick

Plastic Bottle

Unfortunately, these things are everywhere now. That means anywhere you end up, you'll probably find one of these.

Camp Fire

This is essential where ever you end up, you have to have a fire to stay warm, cook grub, and give you a bit of extra light at night.

Water Source

Even if it's dirty, you'll need fresh water, it can be from a stream, lake, or puddle. Just needs to be fresh water.

Here Are The Steps, This is going to weird you out (it weirded me out).

Fill up the plastic water bottle with dirty water (Pro Tip, use your shirt to form a 'filter' for water going in - keeping the big stuff out)
Make an opening in your fire's coal bed.
Place the plastic bottle full of water directly in the coal bed and push coals all around it.

You're going to boil the water in the plastic bottle, using the fire. Insane right. Read the disclaimer below.

Turns out the melting point of most plastics is 338°F or 170°C.

Boiling point of water is 212°F or 100°C.

This means the water will consume the fire's energy (heat) and start boiling BEFORE the plastic has a chance to melt.

Wild but it works! You can boil water in a plastic bottle. (Read Our Disclaimer Above)

Boiling Water Kills What Ails Ya.

All of those dirty little pathogens and bacteria just can't withstand boiling water. So boiling your water for 5 minutes should kill most everything off.

Now obviously this is worst case scenario right, running out of water and doing this means you've tried everything else and you're trying to stay alive.

DO THIS BEFORE YOU DRINK STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CREEK!

Drinking out of the creek will almost surely provide you a nice case of giardia or something of the like. So use this hack to skip that and keep going till you find a walmart. 🤣
