We took the hammock out to the jungle in the tropics for one night!
The temperature dropped to 2 degrees Celsius, which caught us off guard!
Good views, from the hammock. which I rate as important, the material does not block your view when lying prone.
A double layer of material helps with insulation!
The Jury is still Deliberating on it’s overall suitability, we are now comparing it between 2 other manufacturers.....
The Burmese I take with me, are still to give their opinion of it!
Purchased this hammock to section hike the AT trail in the Spring. So far I have only used this hammock in my back yard to test it, and it was a very nice comfortable nights sleep! I cannot wait to put this to the real test in the wilderness! Thank you for a quality product.
My husband and I purchased 2 Ninox hammocks, suspension systems, and flys (flies?) last week for our 10 year anniversary. We are both newbies to hammock camping and on quite a bit of a learning curve. We hung one hammock on our property on Sunday and I cozied in for a few hours while it gently rained. I was dry and comfortable and even napped a bit. On Tuesday night I decided to go the distance. I'm not gonna lie- it was rough. I had a hard time falling asleep and several times during the night I almost threw in the towel. But eventually I fell asleep and was awakened in the morning by my alarm. I'm 51, with a lot of hip and shoulder issues. I fully expected to be sore and miserable the next day but I wasn't. Oh I was plenty tired from lack of sleep but not in any pain whatsoever. That is such a HUGE plus! After re-reviewing set-up videos, I decided that the hammock was probably not hung at the proper angle. I also realized that I had been fighting all night with my camping pad sliding around. Definitely need the double layer if a camping pad is involved.
Plus/Minus- the hammock is very roomy but I had to sit up to reach the gear pouch.
Plus- the set up is as easy as they say it is. So is the breakdown. I was very pleased with the simplicity and thoughtful storage options.
Minus- if you want to remove the fly for more air flow, it's not convenient. You have to detach the hammock first. This is only inconvenient if you are already in your hammock and need more air flow to sleep.
Plus- I was laying pretty flat. Not 100% flat, but flat enough to be comfortable. No pillow needed, which is awesome.
Plus- the gear is lightweight and stores easily.
Plus- the material seems to be well-made and sturdy.
Overall, I'd say that we are going to be happy with our choice of anniversary gift. My husband still has to go the distance, which we are planning to do this weekend. I have been very honest with my review and I hope this will help others make their decision to try out the awesome gear from Sierra Madre Research.
This hammock is top quality. The fabric is really soft too like they say. Was a little sceptical at first to make the purchase but when I laid in it for the first time I wasn't disappointed. Truly is flat lay as they claim. Super roomy and comfortable. So glad I made the switch from a tent.
Initially I did the switch because of my back and it seems to be helping that problem. Living in the PNW this hammock is going to be put through alot of use. Can't wait for my future adventures now!
